Build-a-Costume

Spooky Season is creeping in faster than you can say 'BOO!' and we could not be more excited for it! Carving pumpkins, festive treats, watching the Halloween classics (who's ready for Hocus Pocus?!) ... we're here for it all! Especially the dress up part ;)

We understand the dilemma of making sure your kiddies are dressed warmly and comfortably for trick-or-treating, while still celebrating their costumes as the main event. That's why we've put together a collection of simple pieces that can seamlessly blend into their Halloween looks! Check out our latest edit to Build-a-Costume using our foundation of warm, comfy basics as your costume base. We've hand-curated some adorable ideas to give you some inspiration!

1) T-Shirt, Navy Stripe ; 2) Track Pants, Night Sky ; 3) Azure Metallic Dragon Cape ; 4) Romper, Dog Parade ; 5) Bluey Beanie

From dragons to doggies, we're covering all of the bases! Featuring our NEW Dog Parade print from Winter Water Factory, which we've paired with the most darling crocheted beanie for all of our 'Bluey' fans in the house!

6) Fairy Wings ; 7) Ruffle Collar Dress, Garden ; 8) Sweater, Ecru ; 9) Toadstool Hat ; 10) Pants, Copper

Nothing says 'Fall' like an enchanted forest! The secret treehouses, cascading vines and twinkly lights are just the cozy, comfy vibes that bewitchingly draw us in and drift away in the tales of its mystical inhabitants. Bring on all of the fairies, toadstools, and fantastical creatures! Can you even with those wings?!

11) Firefighter Set & Accessories ; 12) T-Shirt, Pine Stripe ; 13) Pants, Pecan ; 14) Ruffle Collar Dress, Bluebell ; 15) Heirloom Crown

You know when you go to Etsy on a mission to find *one* specific thing, but then fall down a rabbit hole and discover a whole bunch of other amazing products?! That happened to us when we recently stumbled upon this super sweet crown! Wouldn't it also be perfect for a birthday celebration, too? It's so charming & whimsical, and we're very excited to point you to the creator who handmade it (wait 'til you see some of the other treasures in her shop)!

16) Sweatshirt, Bear ; 17) Sweatpant, Bear ; 18) Hat & Mittens Set, Teddy ; 19) Collared Shit, Black Gingham ; 20) Pant, Black ; 21) Witch/ Wizard Hat, Stars ; 22) Sparkle Cape, Black

One of the best parts about this edit is the built-in longevity that each look offers. Keep the basics cycling throughout the season, and give the costumes continued life in the dress up box. If your kiddos don't have one of those, now's the perfect time to start! Pretend play enriches imagination, problem-solving, social & communication skills, and with colder weather just around the corner, it's a great indoor activity to keep the kids entertained!

We hope we've left you feeling inspired and excited for all of the spooky celebrations ahead! What were some of your favorite Halloween costumes growing up? What are your kiddies dreaming up for their costumes this year? We'd love to hear in the comments below!
